Air Force Veterans who took part in D-Day

This is an urgent appeal to all Air Force veterans. Please pass this message on to any and all Air Force Veterans of which you might know. This e-mail is distributed with the express permission of the National Executive Council of the RCAF Association.

The citizens of France, through their Ambassador to Canada, invite Canadians to nominate veterans of the Second World War for the Legion of Honour. Veterans who participated in the D-Day invasion of Normandy (06 June 1944) and the Battle of Normandy (to 31 August 1944) are sought, for this honour, especially those who may have been awarded gallantry medals (Distinguished Service Order - DSO; and/or Distinguished Flying Cross/Medal - DFC/DFM; Military Medal - MM; George Cross, etc...). Please give every consideration to submitting your nomination as soon as possible.

The Nomination form must be received by Veterans Affairs Canada no later than 31 December 2013.

These honours will be bestowed upon living veterans as part of the 70th anniversary commemorative events of 06 June 2014.
